when we just can't
pretend
this game offers any hope
of real
joy
there comes a realization
in the midst
of playing
with our toys
that this isn't it
that there must be
something more
something real
something true
something
that knows
a much bigger picture
of what's going on
and it must be the thing
that knows where
you came from
that saw
the whole story
from before the beginning
to now
and even sees
beyond the now
it already knows
tomorrow
and next year
and has already seen
you
safely
return home
to love
it has seen
you never left
and but imagined
for a moment,
which seems like eons,
as you examine and act out
every possible form this thought
can take...
it has watched you,
baby
it has watched the infant
crawl
it has nursed you
while you slept
crying out
for
something solid
something
dependable
a parent
a shoulder
some fact
beyond perception
and now
here she is
sitting with you writing
at the kitchen counter
and coming to you
through new friends
and best friends
and acquaintances
and students
and teachers
clocks
cars
and even through
the open jar of jam
she can tell you
of her love,
her endless
devotion
and how
if you just rest
and climb up on
her back
she will give you
a piggyback ride
all the way home
remember that?
bouncing
and laughing
and hanging on so tight
to your daddy's head--
almost choking him--
you trusted him
completely
and would never let go
for your dear life!
so now
God
is at our fingertips
its only up to us
not to let go
of Him
and go flying through the air
only to land
softly
once again
as he catches us
time
after
time
after
time
after
time...
ohhhhhh how very very very
blessed
we are
to have
such
a Father's Love...
there comes a time
for all of us
when we can't
pretend otherwise
for one more
moment...
