my eye is one inch away from the painting
i see only a blur
i back away three inches
a little less blurry
now a foot
oh, i see something very different
three feet away
the whole painting is within my vision
back away farther still
i see its relationship to other paintings
out of the room
i see more still
get on a plane

beyond all symbols

to pure Thought/ Spirit
where everything else has disappeared from my sight
